Not at RWA National Convention

Sorry gang, but I'm not going to RWA National Conference this year. The convention happens to conflict with a family vacation. We could have scheduled our family vacation around the conference dates... but really not.

I have four children who are incredibly busy during the summer. Between summer gym classes, band camps, driver's ed, work, etc, we had to squeeze in a three week trip out to the western provinces and states. As it is, my oldest son is unable to come.

We leave on July 5 and will be back home July 27.

Follow our incredible journey as we post our pictures and descriptions on our vaction blog, www.operationvacation.blogspot.com

I have already posted an itinery and some pictures of what we are expecting to see. Read, comment, but most of all, enjoy our trip with us...!!

Blogging from the RWA Conference in San Francisco

For too many years, I have watched my fellow RWA members truck to exotic spots such as Reno, Atlanta and Dallas for the National Conference. I was green with envy, wishing I could be there, too. I eagerly read their blogs daily to get some news of the conference. Some wrote about the conference and some didn't. I yearned for some way to be connected to my writer friends while they rubbed elbows with other writers. Through luck, I stumbled upon a few other RWA members who were blogging from the conference. Still, I was never satisfied. I also felt that I could not be the only writer who wished for a closer connection to the conference. Why couldn't someone blog daily and tell us what was happening?

I am not naive and I realize a participant is probably extremely busy at the conference. But couldn't a writer use the blog as journal to chronicle her daily life during the conference?

My dream is going to come true. *I* am going to blog daily from the RWA National Conference in San Francisco. You can come here every day and find out what I did at the conference each and every day. I promise to tell you as much as I can. I promise to post pictures. I promise to give you a synopsis of the workshops I take and to tell you all about each person I meet.

I want you to experience the conference with me.

Join me when I start my journey, leaving home, on July 28.
